What’s it about
Reflection lies at the heart of every aspect of our work, and in every aspect of the National Quality Framework. At its basis, the NQF requires reflective professionals who make judgments about how best to meet the Standards in their own settings. The reflective cycle underpins our educational program and planning, as well as self-assessment and Quality Improvement planning, it supports educators in articulating their practice, and fosters a culture of shared inquiry and enables learning communities of educators, families and children.
But, what exactly is reflection? How does it differ from critical reflection? How are we meant to do it in practice and document it? This session aims to take the mystery out of the reflective process, unpacking it and breaking it down into using simple, straightforward language and concepts.
Through practical, hands on activities and examples you will be scaffolded and supported in how to understand it, how to document it in simple, time saving, practical ways, and most of all how to DO it! You will leave with a clear understanding of reflection, what’s required under the NQF and with clarity about the difference between evaluation, reflection and critical reflection. Most of all you will leave feeling confident in your ability to reflect!!
To further support your learning a limited number of participants are invited to register for 2 hours of follow up coaching. This must be pre-paid and completed within 4 weeks of the workshops commencement. Times and dates will be negotiated with the facilitator (bring your diary to the workshop) and the coaching will be conducted over the phone and email. This ongoing support will help you to embed your learning into everyday practice.
We would also like to invite you to bring some examples of your documentation to the workshop. This supports your learning and reflection in terms of your own documentation.
