We are delighted to welcome a dynamic group of speakers to Educator Unchained, including Tara Moss, Dr Red Ruby Scarlet, Rhonda Livingstone and Gabrielle Sinclair. These speakers have been selected for the varying contributions they make to the dialogue between the service children in Australia receive, and the workforce tasked with these services. What are the connections between a predominantly female workforce and the challenges the sector currently face? How is professional identity influencing the service children in Australia receive?
Agency contributes to the core of how capable we consider ourselves and informs our sense of wellbeing. Agency allows opportunities for us to feel satisfaction in our personal achievements, and contributes to our feeling of being a valuable and valid member of the groups we work and live in. We know all the benefits that a sense of agency provides children, but how often do we consider agency in the context of educators? We will deconstruct the role of the educator, as well as more specific roles such as Educational Leader.
Educator Unchained is about deconstructing identity and agency. Educator Unchained is about asking questions and forging a new way of considering ourselves, and the capability and influence of our workforce. As the sector is increasingly professionalised, we consider what the world looks like when the educators are at the forefront of the movement.
This day is suitable for anyone working in Long Day Care, Family Day Care, Outside School Hours care, Approved Providers, or anyone interested in working in a way that grows the sense of worth of educators.
